H-SAE Discussion List
![]() |
![]() H-SAE is an e-mail discussion list affiliated to the Society for the Anthropology of Europe, which is, in turn, a section of the American Anthropological Association. Subscription to H-SAE is not, however, limited to Society for the Anthropology of Europe members. The list is open to any scholar with an interest in the various aspects of the anthropology of European peoples. Alongside anthropologists we invite subscriptions from scholars in allied fields, such as cultural studies, history, political science, sociology, geography, folklore, semiotics, and linguistics, who may have an interest in anthropological approaches to the study of European culture. Students who share our interest are also welcome to join. We especially wish to encourage subscriptions from European colleagues in anthropology, or allied fields. Those subscribers who know appropriate European scholars are encouraged to recruit them for the list. H-SAE has a number of purposes:
H-SAE is a moderated discussion list. The editor is Roland Moore, Research Anthropologist at the Prevention Research Center, Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation (rolandmo@pacbell.net). The co-editor is Jelena Karanovic ( jelena@karanovic.org). The founding editor was the late Tony Galt, Professor of Social Change and Development and Anthropology, University of Wisconsin--Green Bay. On a edited list the messages sent by subscribers are screened by the editor, modified in some cases, and then posted to the list. Some messages may be refused. Among the latter would be unpaid advertisements, technical messages that should have been sent to the listserv address, and not the list, and any messages deemed irrelevant to the list's purposes. A reply to the entire list that might be of interest only to the original poster will be forwarded to that person. The editors will never alter the meaning or content of a posted message. A descriptive subject headings will be added, if they are missing or unclear, along with a line to the message identifying the sender, if necessary. Messages that contain inflammatory argument, especially personal attack, will be turned back to the sender for reconsideration or simply deleted. Since the editors cannot constantly sit in front of a terminal, expect short delays between your submission of messages and their posting. |
