Co-moderator's note: H-CIVWAR received a couple of queries about one of
the journals for which we are posting article titles. The message below
gives some information about the journal.
============================================================================
CIVIL WAR REGIMENTS ia a quarterly journal published by Regimental
Studies, Inc., 1475 South Bascom Avenue, Suite 204, Campbell, CA 95008.
(408) 879-9073 (voice) and (408) 879-9327 (fax). The publisher is a not-
for-profit corporation, and revenues are donated to Civil War-related
preservation organizations.
A typical issue has about 100 pages and two major articles, one Union and
one Confederate. They tend to be regimental histories or an in-depth look
at a regiment over a period of time and run 30 to 40 pages. Whenever
possible, each issue includes a Preservation Report which discusses the
modern condition of any sites referred to in the major articles. Each
issue includes book reviews, with at least one being a "Classic
Regimental," a new look at an old friend. Articles are footnoted with
maps and illustrations of variable quality, presumably provided (or not) by
the author. So far, each volume has been indexed in the fourth number.
They have been publishing for three years now.
I have enjoyed the journal's articles and am not sure what other journals
would routinely publish this material. Obviously, it is more concerned
with the military (vs. social, etc.) aspects of the War.
