Brill of Leiden. This will give articles greater visibility than ever. We are proud of the work published so far; we hope authors will submit work of equal quality in the future. Shannah Tovah to all. 2) History of Zionism From: Ron Zweig To: Tzvee Zahavy Date: Sun, 22 Oct 89 22:49:15 IST I read your article in the recent AJS Newsletter and your plea to establish contact with other scholars in the field of Jewish Studies via Bitnet. The Institute for Research in the History of Zionism at Tel Aviv University conducts a lot of its business over Bitnet, and we also welcome further contact. Should you be interested, in addition to our regular publications we publish a computerized (for PCs) bibliography of Zionism and Jewish settlement in Palestine (over 4,500 items) complete with software. It is updated annually. We are also considering the publication of a number of scholarly projects in electronic format (including a new, exhaustive, edition of the letters of Ahad Ha'am, and diplomatic documents of the Jewish Agency's Political Dept, 1945-1948.) We welcome any contact with other scholars in the field of Jewish studies. Dr. Ronald W. Zweig Director Institute for Research on the History of Zionism; and member of Dept. of Jewish History 3) Stereotype and Prejudice From David Goldenberg (Annenberg Institute) Date: Thu, 26 Oct 89 15:17 EST -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANNOUNCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIP APPOINTMENTS Annenberg Research Institute 1989-90 Research Theme Stereotype and Prejudice in the Mutual Perceptions of Religious, Ethnic, and Racial Groups NAME AREA OF RESEARCH ASHRAF, Ahmad The Impact of Religious- University of Pennsylvania Minority Status on Merchants in the Tehran Bazaar (1930s - 1970s) BERGER, David A History of Jewish-Christian Brooklyn College Polemic CURTIS, Michael Western Views of Oriental Rutgers University Despotism in the Middle East GOLDBERG, Harvey (F) Cultural Interchange among Jews Hebrew University and Muslims in Libyan Society HAARMANN, Ulrich; (S) Stereotyped Depictions of the University of Freiburg Turkish Mamluks by the Arabs of Late Medieval Times JORDAN, William Credit in Pre-Industrial Europe: Princeton University Stereotypes of Borrowers/Lenders, and Social Ramifications of Borrowing between Different Religious Communities KLIER, John (F) Russian Public Opinion on the Fort Hays State University Jewish Question in Pre-revolu- (Kansas) tionary Russia LASKER, Daniel Jewish-Christian Mutual Ben-Gurion University Perceptions Under Islam in the Middle Ages MODRAS, Ronald Anti-Semitism in the Catholic Saint Louis University Church in Poland (1933-1939) MORAG, Shelomo (F) 1. I am compiling an annotated bibliography of writings by and about Levi ben Gershom (Ralbag, Gersonides, 1288-1344) for publication in REVUE D'HISTOIRE DES SCIENCES. I'd be grateful if anyone working on the Ralbag out there would let me know about it. At the moment I cannot send out copies of the bibliography (it is 50 typewritten pages).I hope to get it on line so that it can be bitnetted after it is completed. Also, I am working on an annotated translation of Ralbag's commentary on Song of Songs. I would be happy to correspond about this. I have finished the critical text of the commentary and a preliminary translation. Thanks, Kol tuv, Menachem 5) Compact Disk Rabbinic Texts in Libraries I include this entire item here in order to preserve context. From: "Paul J. Constantine" Date: Fri, 27 Oct 89 07:58:51 CDT Reply-To: Public-Access Computer Systems Forum This may have been covered earlier on in the life of PACS-L, if so forgive me. Is anyone making available full-text CD-ROMs and soft- ware/hardware for searching them? I have in mind items such as the TLG on the Ibycus Computer, the Rabbinic texts, and items for use with Word Cruncher. How are these serviced and supported within the library? Are traditional online units supporting these? Collection development people? Does anyone circulate the CD's? Thanks! 6) Computerized Torah Treasure Prices I include here the salient points of an advertisement recently received. Date: Tue, 31 Oct 89 16:14:35 O Dear Sir...
