The History Department of The Colorado College invites applications for a tenure-track position in twentieth-century North American history at the assistant professor level beginning in August 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to teach twentieth-century North American history courses with an emphasis on the United States and the World. Candidates with expertise in migration/immigration, borderlands (broadly defined), and/or labor history are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should be prepared to teach the US survey, recent US history, and seminars focused on their areas of interest and expertise.
One of the distinguishing features of The Colorado College is its Block Plan, where students take, and faculty teach, one 3 ½ week block at a time over the course of the academic year. The department seeks a gifted teacher/scholar who can mentor and support history majors, students majoring in other disciplines, and maintain energy for scholarly productivity.
