Mughal India and the Islamic World: Connecticut College invites applications for a renewable, Continuing Part-Time Faculty (CPTF) position in the History Department at the rank of assistant professor for a historian of Mughal India and the Islamic World. Preference will be given to candidates who place their scholarship and teaching within a transnational context and demonstrate connections between the history of South Asia and the history of the rest of the world. Language proficiency, necessary for research in relevant archives (i.e., Persian, Sanskrit, Arabic and/or other vernacular South Asian languages), is expected. Ph.D. is required by time of appointment, as is demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated awareness of the importance of diversity in education.
Responsibilities will include teaching three courses per year. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to Global Islamic Studies and other programs as well as general education initiatives on campus. The position begins July 1, 2018.
