The African American and African Diaspora Studies Program at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for a tenure-track position in Black Atlantic/Afro-Latin America (Assistant Professor), to begin August 1, 2018. The African American and African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS) consists of 6 full-time and 8 affiliated faculty members and offers a B.A. in African American and African Diaspora Studies, including Disciplinary Honors. Successful applicants must have a Ph.D. (or anticipated by 8/1/18) in Anthropology, History, Ethnomusicology, or related fields of study pertaining to the Black Atlantic with a focus on Afro-Latin America. Specialists in Brazil, the Caribbean, and the Circum-Caribbean are welcome. Consideration will also be given to West and Central Africanists with research and/or teaching linked to Latin America. Teaching responsibilities are three courses per semester. Offerings include undergraduate surveys with upper-level courses in the area of expertise. Demonstrated engaged teaching and the ability to contribute to the program's dynamic intellectual life and broader community is especially favored.
