Centre College invites applications for a one year visiting assistant professor of history, to begin in the fall of 2018, in one of the two following fields. The first is American History, specializing in the period between 1945 and the present. We are particularly interested in American historians with a research field in borderlands. The successful candidate will also be able to teach the second half of the United States History survey (1877-present) or the modern World History survey (1890-present). The second field is Middle Eastern History, area of specialization open. The successful candidate will able to teach the World History survey, covering the years 1500-1900. Candidates with Ph.D. are preferred, however A.B.D. will be considered. The program strongly encourages applications from candidates who have experience teaching and mentoring a diverse student body.
