Post-doctoral fellowship at Labor Studies and Employment Relations Department, School of Management and Labor Relations, Rutgers University
The Labor Studies and Employment Relations (LSER) Department, in the School of Management and Labor Relations, Rutgers University, is one of the top-ranked departments in the world for the study of work, workers, and the employment relationship. We are offering a unique opportunity for recent or soon-to-be completed PhDs who are interested in deepening their knowledge of our policy and practice-oriented field with the goal of expanding their academic labor market opportunities. We are particularly interested in attracting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, people with disabilities, and so forth) who will contribute to the diversity of faculty in our field but are, of course, open to all applicants. The area of scholarship is open.
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. or other terminal degree (DBA, JD, LLD, EDD) in Employment Relations, Industrial Relations, Sociology, Economics, History, Political Science, American Studies, Black Studies, Latino Studies, Disability Studies or Gender Studies.
The post-doctoral Fellow will spend 1 to 2 years at Rutgers collaborating on research with LSER faculty, who are internationally recognized leaders in our field. The Fellow will work closely with one or more faculty mentors to customize a collaboration plan that will best prepare that individual to successfully compete in the academic job market. The Fellow will also be encouraged to undertake one applied project on a topic of interest to both the Fellow and the department. It is anticipated that the Fellow will teach one 3-credit course each semester in the first year. This 12-month fellowship will start no earlier than July 1, 2018. The fellowship offers a $62,000 salary, $5,000 in research support funds, health insurance, and other benefits included in the Rutgers AAUP-AFT postdoctoral collective bargaining agreement.
