Bio: Before joining the H-HistoryDay list as an editor, I have been involved with the National History Day program for ten years as a student, teacher, and state coordinator. I was hired by the State Historical Society of Iowa in 1997 as an Education Outreach specialist. The majority of my time is devoted to my responsibilities as state coordinator for the National History Day in Iowa program. I work one-on-one with students and teachers around the state, present at conferences (NCSS, OAH, Iowa Talented and Gifted, etc.), and assist schools in linking with universities and public history institutions. I received my B.A. in history and B.S. in secondary education from Kansas State University. My graduate research at the University of Iowa focused on antebellum U.S. social history, especially children's activities in the antislavery and temperance movements. |
