Bio: Issues on political iconology, roman art and politics in the 16th and 17th centuries and methods about art as social strategy. 2001-2005 project collaborator of "REQUIEM. The Roman Tombs for the Popes and Cardinals of the Early Modern Age", Humboldt University Berlin. Since 2005 assistant at the Institute fuer Kunst- und Bildgeschichte, Humboldt University of Berlin, chair Prof. Horst Bredekamp. 2008/2009 Fellow at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles Currently preparing her Ph.D. with the title: “Tyrant and martyr. Iconology of the Juridical in the 16th and 17th century”. The dissertation analyzes the correlation between Art and Law after the Council of Trent by focusing on the meaning and representations of martyrdom in the 16th and 17th century. In contrast to interpretations which concentrate on the religious and theological meaning of martyrdom, it seeks to explore and include the juridical and political significance of the images of martyrdom in its historical context of the consolidation of statehood and institutionalization of power. Thorough examination of the tracts and treatises of the theory of the state, the theory of law and image theory expound the decisive meaning of images concerning the boundaries between the ideas of tyranny and legitimate sovereignty.
