Bio: I received my PhD in the History of American Civilization from Harvard University (2009) and I hold an MA in English and American Literature from Harvard and a MA and BA in English Literature from Cambridge University. My books include Modern Slavery (Oneworld 2009), To Plead Our Own Cause: Personal Stories by Today's Slaves (Cornell University Press 2008), American Protest Literature (Harvard University Press 2006), and Meteor of War: The John Brown Story (Blackwell 2004). I research and teach American and African American literature, with a focus on protest literature. |
