Bio: Ellen Gruber Garvey is the author of Book, Paper, Scissors: Scrapbooks Remake Print Culture forthcoming from Oxford University Press, and of the earlier Adman in the Parlor: Magazines and the Gendering of Consumer Culture. She has recently published articles on using scrapbooks as evidence of reception, on women editing periodicals, Willa Cather as a magazine editor, on the advertising of books, and on the rewriting of a Mary Wilkins Freeman story. She has held been a fellow at the National Humanities Center in North Carolina, held a National Endowment for the Humanities “We the People” fellowship, and held the Fulbright Walt Whitman Distinguished Chair in American Literature at Nijmegen University in the Netherlands. She is Professor of English and Women and Gender Studies at New Jersey City University. |
