Bio: I am an associate professor of history in the Department of History at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. I have written three books, with a fourth being reviewed by the University of Rochester Press. My books are: The Making of Modern Ethiopia, 1896-1974 (Trenton, NJ: Red Sea Press, 1995); Hegel and Anti-Semitism (Pretoria: University of South Africa Press, 2008); and Hegel and The Third World; The Making of Eurocentrism in World History (Syracuse, NY: Syracuse University Press, 2011). My book manuscript under review is entitled, Black Modernity: Edward Wilmot Blyden, Africa, and the Racial Nationalist Imagination. I am currently working on a book entitled, The National Question in Ethiopia: The Fracture and Manufacture of Nations and Nationalism. My expertise is in the fields of African history, with focus on Ethiopia, comparative history, third world history, and Eurocentrism. |
