Bio: My research interests span religion, travel, Central Europe, and material and visual culture. My doctoral dissertation on 'Religious materiality in seventeenth-century Prague' analysed inventories and objects to reveal the beliefs, practices and identities of Prague citizens during the Counter-Reformation. I have recently published work based on my PhD research in 'The Routledge Handbook of Material Culture in Early Modern Europe' in addition to articles based on my MPhil research into a Bohemian nobleman's pilgrimage travelogue (Bedřich z Donín's Cestopis, 1607-8). I am a co-founder of the Cambridge New Habsburg Studies Network, which aims to promote Habsburg studies in Cambridge by exploring new approaches to the history and cultures of Central and Eastern Europe, including the new methodologies of gender studies and social history. I am also a committee member of the Forum for Czech and Slovak Studies in the UK, and a Seminar Fellow at the Center for Austrian Studies, University of Minnesota. |
