Pinar Ipek Bilkent University Pinar Ipek is assistant professor at the Department of International Relations at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. She was a visiting Fulbright scholar at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University during 2012-2013. Her current research is on (i) integration process in the EU internal energy market and the role of socialization among EU member states, (ii) energy security in global political economy, (iii) Turkey’s changing trade relations by regions and political economy of state-business relations, and (iv) the role of oil and gas resources in post conflict state transformation in Iraq. Before joining Bilkent University in 2004 she was a faculty member at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at University of Pittsburgh in 2003-2004. Pinar Ipek holds a B.A. from the Faculty of Political Science, Ankara University in Turkey and a M.B.A from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She completed her Ph.D. in international affairs at University of Pittsburgh in 2003. She conducted field research in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan on multinational corporations' investment in oil and gas sector in these countries and was a visiting scholar of an NGO (Civic Education Project) program in the Central Asian region. She was short-term international election observer as part of the election observation missions of OSCE in Azerbaijan in 2005 and 2008, and Georgia in 2008 in addition to the UN technical assistance mission to Iraq elections in 2009 and 2010. |
